Missoni for woman

Missoni was founded in 1953 when Ottavio, an athletics champion in the 400 meters that already had a sports suit business, and Rosita Missoni, who worked for her family’s company and had knowledge of linens and shawls, set up a small knitwear workshop in their home of Gallarate, Italy. They presented their first collection in Milan in 1958, which caught the eye of Italian high-end retailer La Rinascente, which immediately placed an order. In 1967, the brand showed a collection of sheer lurex tops and dresses at the Pitti fair in Florence that garnered a lot of attention due to the models’ lack of bras, setting the trend and boosting the brand’s awareness.
